Artist Statement 2007 

Painting on a daily basis has become almost a necessity. Having studied with various masters, I have learned to trust inspiration, whether it comes from what I see, feel and/or believe. In reality, most of my creative journeys come from within, touching on the thoughts and experiences of a lifetime.

Water media, for me has endless possibilities and gives me a repertoire of methods of interpretation. I believe in starting with strong design fundamentals and experimenting with ink, wash, collage and dry brush. Pushing the limits of color in the water media is integral to my work. Understanding the “negative space” of my painting and experimenting with vibrant, earthy, and intense color has given me plenty of flexibility in the creative process each time I approach a blank page.
